South Fayette High School Little Green Machine Marching Band

The South Fayette High School Little Green Machine Marching Band was again named the Best School Band from Allegheny County by winning the County Executive's Award at the 2010 St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Pittsburgh.
In addition, a small ensemble from the band was honored on March 11 to perform, for the third year in a row, at the American Ireland Fund Pittsburgh Dinner Gala held in the East Club Lounge at Heinz Field.

PSSA Testing Dates

Easter Egg Hunt and Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

South Fayette High School Blood Drive

The South Fayette High School Health Careers Club is sponsoring a Central Blood Bank Blood Drive on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in the high school gymnasium from 7:15AM – 1:00PM.  Donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health.  All student donors, regardless of age, must obtain a Central Blood Bank Parental Consent Form from the school nurse, have it signed by a parent or legal guardian, and return it to Mrs. Macurak in order to be scheduled for a donation time. 

Proper ID is required to donate blood.  A Central Blood Bank ID, driver’s license, or passport are all approved forms of ID.  A birth certificate along with a picture ID that includes the donor’s full name is also acceptable.   

Adults from the community are welcome to donate at this blood drive and should contact the Central Blood Bank @ 412-209-7000 or www.centralbloodbank.org to schedule an appointment.  Please eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating.

South Fayette Foundation for Excellence

The South Fayette Foundation for Excellence will hold its Inaugural Fundraiser on Saturday, March 20 at 7 p.m. at the Hickory Heights Golf Club.
Admission (adults only) includes hors d'oeuvres, refreshments and a silent auction which items include tickets to the LPGA U.S. Women's Open Championship at the Oakmont Country Club, museum admissions, overnight hotel stays, theatre tickets, and more.
All proceeds benefit South Fayette teacher grants and student scholarships.

2010-2011 South Fayette Kindergarten Registration Process

We will start preregistering the 2010-2011 kindergarten students on January 18, 2010. Please call Becky Pasteryk at 412-221-4542 at extension 331 if you have a child that will be attending South Fayette kindergarten next year.

 

American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR Certification Class

H1N1 Announcement January 6, 2010

H1N1 vaccine is now available to the general public through local health departments, certified providers and possibly your own doctor. Even though influenza activity in the state is declining, the PA Department of Health is still encouraging people to get immunized in anticipation of a possible third wave of the H1N1 flu in Pennsylvania. Dual Enrollment 2010-2011
High School Students Can Earn College Credits while in High School

The Pennsylvania Department of Education is offering an opportunity for any 2010-2011 incoming 11th or 12th grade students within the South Fayette School District to participate in the Dual Enrollment Program for the 2010-2011 School Year.

This opportunity is open to all incoming juniors and seniors who reside within the South Fayette School District including those students attending South Fayette High School, private, non-public, Cyber, charter schools as well as any home schooled students within the district. 

The Dual Enrollment program provides funding to students who enroll in the college/university credits while in high school. The South Fayette School District will be entering agreements with local two and four year colleges and universities.

2010-2011 Preschool Registration

Registration for preschool for the 2010-2011 school year will be held on Monday, January 18th in the high school building in Room FA226, from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. The classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. A child must live in South Fayette and must be four by September 1, 2010. There are four classes. One class meets Wednesday, Friday and some Mondays while the other class meets Tuesday – Thursday and some Mondays. The morning class is from 8:15 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. and the afternoon class is from 11:25 a.m. to 1:50 p.m.. There is a $100 NON-REFUNDABLE registration fee required at this time.

2007-2008 marks the beginning of the South Fayette Alumni Association (SFAA).  The graduating class of 2008 will mark the 80th anniversary of graduation ceremonies for the district.  From Lafayette School’s first graduation class of 13 (on record) to the 156 graduates of the 2007 class of South Fayette High School our alumni roster exceed 6,700+.
